At Solihull Junior Barons we know a bit about Ice Hockey!
with an amazing 32 year history, we have certainly been around the blocks. Now thats not to say that we have it all, because just like 'Triggers Broom' (Not heard of triggers broom?? - click here), people have come and people have gone but what always remains is a solid foundation and a beating heart of a club that just wants to keep on going.
We are a not for profit organisation which we believe has a set of core values that we believe cant be beaten!
We dont lay claims to being the best club in the league, but we honestly believe you won't find a better club environment anwhere alse in the country.
Our sole purpose is to provide children of solihull and the surronding areas the opportunity to learn and play ice hockey at a level of competition that is appropriate for their ages. We work hard and we have fun. Its that simple. If you believe you can skate and would like to join come and give us a try. Some of our players are as young as 5! Solihull battle hard to keep a good Cov team at bay!
Solihull 3 - Coventry 3
What a fantastic game to end the season. Solihull took a 2-0 lead with good goals from Josh Wilkes and Kyle Nash only to be pegged back in a nailbitiing second period, which saw Josh Wilkes claim his second goal of the game to take Solihull 3-2 in front, after Cov had managed to pull it back to 2-2. It wasnt to be our day, Solihull couldnt hold on to the lead for long with a 3rd goal from Cov seeing them take their half of the points. The 3rd periiod was end to end and frantic to the finish whilst both teams were searching for that special goal that would see them victorious.
With one game left we are still top of the league although Nottingham and Manchester both have games in hand! They still have to win them!

First of all, people's definitions of "healthy" vary quite drastically. I have heard people say they eat healthy but when they describe the low fat cheese, fat-free muffins and diet coke that populate their diet, it's pretty clear that we all don't agree on what healthy actually is.
The Science of healthy eating and dieting is a huge subject and not one we are likely to cover in one page but its important that we understand the basics.
Assuming that someone truly does eat healthy, can they still be overweight? Yes, absolutely. Large portions, frequent snacking, and eating too much of the higher calorie healthy foods can lead to weight gain if the excess energy from these foods is not expended in activity or exercise.
Lets see how much we think we know about healthy eating v dieting.
Lets have a look at the difference between Orange Juice & Coke
Solihull 5 – Nottingham 4
This was the last home game of the season for our U18’s and the last junior home game for a number of our U18’s. Solihull worked extremely hard under the watchful eyes of Lee Trueman and Dave McKay. The first two periods were tight and the game really opened up in the third period. It was an eventful game with players from both sides been ejected from the game; Nottingham had obviously been working hard since our last meeting back in October and bought the score back to 5-4. The game finished with Solihull coming out on top with some cracking goals from all of our goal scorers. It was a great team effort and great support from the bench.
Thanks go to the game day helpers; Andy for the clock, Ann for the gamesheet, Matt and Dave for the goal judging, without their help our games would not be possible. Thanks also to Dawn for selling all of our 50/50’s! Our very last game of the season is in May where we will have our final meeting against Sutton U18 in Sheffield, with a couple of month’s gap we’ll be working hard in training to hopefully go out on a high.
Solihull 5 - Grimsby 5
Although Solihull worked extremely hard to keep a good Grimsby team at bay. Grimsby came from behind to steal a draw in a well fought battle. With only six first team regulars, Solihull relied heavily on help from the U14's who, after a hard game of their own v Blackburn - played a huge part in today's game. Nevertheless, It was good to get back to scoring ways with some quality goals. Well done to all the boys and girls.
Josh Wilkes 3 Goals 0 Assists
Jack McKay 1 Goal 1 Assist
Kyle Nash 1 Goal 1 Assist
Lucas Smith 0 Goals 1 Assist
